Statement of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bucharest

regarding the Insults to the Sanctity of the Holy Quran

The distressing news of the repeated insult to the sanctity of the Holy Quran in Sweden has deeply wounded the sentiments and emotions of the global Muslim community and followers of divine religions. The shock and concern arising from these derogatory actions are spreading rapidly.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bucharest strongly condemns these provocative acts towards the Holy Quran, the sacred book of Muslims worldwide. The Embassy firmly warns that the continuation of these actions under the guise of freedom of expression amounts to a clear insult to all Muslims and aims to provoke various communities with the intention of promoting Islamophobia and extremist tendencies.

Undoubtedly, granting permission to insult the Quran or any other divine scripture originates from a mindset that seeks to exploit freedom of expression to promote anti-Islamic sentiments and attempts at religious eradication. The irrevocable consequences of such actions include the spread of hatred, violence, and xenophobia in different societies.

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns insults to any divine religions and expects that such offensive and provocative phenomenon are rejected and proportionate actions be taken against those responsible for such acts.
