Press Communiqué

Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bucharest

with respect to the terrorist attacks to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s diplomatic premises and staff on 1st April 2024 in Damascus – The Syrian Arab Republic

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful,

The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bucharest strongly condemns the abhorrent terrorist attack on the diplomatic premises and staff of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Syrian Arab Republic on 1st April 2024.

On 1st April 2024, the Islamic Republic of Iran’s diplomatic premises in Damascus were intentionally targeted by missile airstrikes launched by the Israeli regime, resulting in the killing and tragic loss of several persons, including diplomatic staff, and the complete destruction of Iran’s diplomatic premises in question.

These horrific crimes and cowardly terrorist attacks are a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and the foundational principle of the inviolability of diplomatic premises and staff and pose a significant threat to regional peace and security.

Certainly, such criminal actions should be condemned by everyone. The international community is expected to strongly condemn this brutal act of terrorism and take all necessary measures to prosecute and punish the perpetrators and those who incite or fund the responsible persons.

The aggressor Zionist regime bears full responsibility for the consequences and the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves its legitimate and inherent right under international law and the United Nations Charter to take a decisive response to such reprehensible acts.

Bucharest, 2nd April 2024
