On the afternoon of August 25th, 2021, the Iranian Parliament voted the cabinet proposed by President Ebrahim Raisi.

During the Parliament session, all but one nominated cabinet won the vote of confidence from the member of the Parliament. As such, the nominated minister of education Hossein Baghgoli failed to secure the necessary confidence votes from the lawmakers, while 18 other proposed ministers won the votes of confidence at the Parliament.

Moreover, on August 25th, after the appointment of the government, President Raisi thanked the Iranian parliament for its good faith in the proposed government ministers, by saying “the strong vote of the Islamic Consultative Assembly to the people’s government will, God willing, be the beginning of sympathetic cooperation between the two branches to build a strong Iran”.

August 26th was the first day of work for the newly appointed government, as they already held their first session with President Ebrahim Raisi, after their visit to the Mausoleum of Imam Khomeini to renew their allegiance to the late founder of the Islamic Revolution. Until this Thursday, President Ebrahim Raisi had been chairing the former President Rouhani’s cabinet.

One of the main presidential declarations during this work meeting referred to the people of Iran, the president admitting that despite efforts made by the previous administrations, the people are now in a condition that they do not deserve and that his administration will make utmost efforts to reduce people’s problems. In addition, he said that the general vaccination of the people against the Covid-19 will accelerate as the new administration intensifies its efforts, with the necessary budget already allocated to step up local manufacturing of the vaccines as well as accelerating the imports of foreign-made vaccines.

Another point on the work agenda was related to corruption, as the president urged the cabinet members to intensify the campaign against corruption in the ministries and bodies they lead over. Elsewhere he ordered the new Road and Construction Minister Rostam Ghasemi to put the promised plan to build 1 million houses for people on the agenda on the very first day of his work.

Furthermore, on Saturday, August 28th, the president and his cabinet are supposed to meet with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei.
